Big Bird on the Wing

Had a great time at Oak Hammock Marsh watching the six Great Egrets and their interactions. I will only assume that there would have been juveniles in the mix ? They went about their search for food unconcerned with human presence and at times come relatively close ( 100-125 ft.)

It appeared that they each had an area that they where wading in and if another came to close they seemed to defend that location with vocal calls and chasseing away the intruder.

All this provided, wading, take off, landing and flight shots.

Change of Seasons

As the seasons change so do my subjects…I’m happy to say that Mother Nature was more than kind to me over the spring and summer.
Perhaps the most rememberable will be locating an Eagles nest close to our summer place in Gimli. I’ll be looking forward to next spring and their return to the site.

Next event will be the Eagles as they collect prior to migration.
Following that I’ll begin to check all my Snowy Owl, Hawk Owl and Great Gray haunts.

Pleasant Surprise

Some times birds show up unexpectedly…so was the case with this Yellow Shafted Northern Flicker.

As I was leaving the summer place in Gimli a pleasant surprise, this bird with a digging in the lawn for ants/grubs.

It was more concerned on get something to eat than me getting out of the truck.
