Summer is Gone…enjoy the Fall

Where did the summer go ?

With Fall approaching the Summer Place is now closed up for the Winter. This also included the Wren House.
If you happen to have small bird houses in your yard…it’s always a good idea to do a fall clean-up on them.

Hopefully your bird houses have a removal backdoor for this task to be easily done.

Removing all the nest material from inside is a good idea…small birds like to start fresh come next Spring.
It also helps in eliminating bird parasites.

Looking forward to the Wrens returning next spring…for now I’ll enjoy all the smells and colors of Fall.

Summer Place Action

There is always things to do around the Summer Place…over the week-end the Job Jar was put on hold.
First thought was that they had disappeared as the area was silent.
Not so…Mr. & Mrs. Wren were definitely busy finding all sorts of insects to feed the youngster.

It’s always a challenge to be able to capture them in the bush…they tend to never sit for long in any one place and constantly on the move.
Wrens are Chickadee and Finch like in size…so smaller than a Sparrow.

Needless to say… things in the Job Jar are still there to tackle another day.

Chatter at the Summer Place

When we opened up the summer place it was encouraging to hear the chatter of House Wrens close by.
Last year the Wren House sat vacant…which was disappointing even though they had placed a good number of twigs inside the birdhouse.
Mrs. Wren found the accommodations not to her liking I guess.

When we closed up I did the fall house cleaning and removed all the twigs…with high hopes for 2023.

Appears they are interested…hopefully they will have a few mouths to feed in the near future.
