Warm Thoughts of Summer

Remembering back to warm summer days.
Our summer Wren renters now long gone as we head into our winter season.
The Wrens provided none stop chatter and nice to hear. As the youngster grew the adults were required to feed those hungry mouths.
Their back and forth made me tired just watching them as they brought in food that seemed to be none stop.

Another Day with the Eagles

Another trip up along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. The day was a mixed bag of conditions…dull and overcast cloud cover with the odd sunny break then darker clouds and snow as I traveled farther North.
The snow heavy at times proved to be a challenge with the camera wanting to focus on the snowflakes rather than the birds…grrrr !
Never the less an enjoyable day but glad I have a 4×4 as the road become somewhat slippery.

Quest for Eagles

October is Pre Winter Owl Season but first need to make the annual trips in search of Eagles up along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. This time of year Eagles are collecting before they begin to migrate with large groups often seen together.
I opted to check some new territory with high hopes of some rewards.

Eagles being scavengers and often search out an easy meal…like a fish dump site that commercial fishermen use to discard fish remains.
If one can stand the smell these locations may produce the rewards I was after.

So the morning started at 4:30 am and after loading up the gear and packing lunch/snacks I was on the road headed North on my Eagle quest.
The new territory paid off and I soon ran out of fingers and toes and lost count…at the end of the day I figure I had seen over 150 plus Eagles.
