Change it Up a Bit

You have come to expect birds-n-more birds…but this morning I’ll change it up a bit from Days Gone By.
There are times when the bird action is slow and old and forgotten buildings can be had.
One can only imagine the stories some of these abandoned buildings must hold.

As of now I’ve done a couple out-n-about trips hoping to find any early Winter Owl arrivals…unfortunately I haven’t been rewarded and it would be very early for them anyway.
One of these days the camera will get a workout.
Until then it’s Osprey & Eagles to share.

Home Sweet Home in a Hole

Thought I was hearing things…this hole seemed to have sounds coming from within and unclear as to what was exactly making those sounds.
Then only to realize the hole was an active Northern Flicker nest site. Turned out the cavity was home for three young…difficult to believe they could all fit inside.
Flickers are a member of the Woodpecker family and cavity nesters…the adults spend a great deal of time on the ground in search of small insects to feed themselves and their young.

Great fun watching Mamma Flicker come and go feeding three hungry mouths.
