Peregrines

Strange and somewhat of a disappointing year for Peregrines…for whatever reason there were a few inactive nest sites. Everything from none returning pairs, lone birds at locations to failed nest sites.

Ella and Pips year was a First with 4 eggs and chicks. The Project is thankful to have Prairie Wildlife Rehab who are only a phone call away…I think we have reached frequent flyers statis with all the times we have brought in birds to be checked.

One of the chicks certainly had an interesting adventure before making its way to the rehab.
July 6th late pm. appeared that Winnipeg Police Cadets were doing a wellness check on a homeless person…little did the cadets know what they were about to find.
The homeless person had a pet in a box…the pet turned out to be a missing Peregrine Chick which the Cadets seized.
Chick was taken to the Pembina Veterinary Hospital which is a drop off point for Prairie Wildlife…chick was a little dehydrated and after getting a clean bill of health was returned to the Radisson and released.

Peregrines will soon begin migration and likely gone by the first part of October.
