Hawk Owl on the Wing

Hawk Owls use a high vantage point to hunt from and easy to spot…from a tree top they move/swivel their heads in quick jerky motions attempting to locate prey. Once something is spotted they spring into action with little to no warning…so the clicker finger needs to be ready.

Hawk Owls are one of a few owls that are diurnal/day time hunters.
All owls seem have their unique characteristics.

When you’re stuck in the city for one reason or another and unable to get out Birding/Owling…take advantage of the next best thing.
Didn’t have to travel far for this up-close visitor…Pileated Woodpecker came to check out the peanut log feeder.

Too bad I hadn’t yet filled the log with peanuts or she may have stuck around longer.
