Mid December with Rough-legged Hawks migrating through in good numbers.
Originally this one was spotted on a pole next to the road that provided some perch shots…after some time it finally took to flight after being spooked by a large transport truck.
Just happen to be in the right place at the right time…thanks Mr. Trucker.

Snowy on a Snag
Interesting day and was able to get out-n-about to search for Snowy Owls.
Funny how things fall into place as was the case with this Snowy.
Not often do you find a Snowy on a snag that happened to be on the backside of some old grain bins.
Using the buildings as a blind was able to get much closer than if simply shooting from the road.
The conditions where less than ideal for photographing with overcast skies and ice crystals…but you deal with what your given.
Stare Down with a Snowy
Pleasant surprise this morning to have the temp sitting at -18 c…rather than the recent -30 temps. Perhaps if I’m able to get a couple things in the job-jar completed I’ll hit the road for a Snowy Owl check.
Fingers crossed that the back roads can still be navigated after the recent dump of snow. Unlike major roads the back roads tend to be put on the back burner when it comes to snow clearing.
Sometimes nothing more than tractor trails by Mr. Farmer…will see.
