Road Less Traveled…Continued

You may recall the recent closing statement.
“Of course I managed to get closer to the Heron and Pelicans…but that’s for another day.”

For the most part Herons are easily spooked and not very tolerant of humans. A slow approach had been required…with a step, step and click approach which seemed to have worked on this day along the side of the flooded section of highway.

Cheers !
Dennis

Seems Like Yesterday

One of those times that won’t be forgotten…I can remember it like yesterday even though it was captured a number of years back.
These three Great Horned Owlets line up for their “Sears Portrait” to be taken.

Must say it’s still to this day one of my favorite Owlet Captures.
They reminded me of the Three Stooges…Larry, Moe and Curly.

Road Less Traveled…Continued

As the flooding on Red River continues it creates plenty of new areas for large shore birds like the Great Egret to spend the day hunting.
These birds are a little smaller than the Herons…being pure white in color and easily spotted.
During breeding season they have a noticeable patch of lime green coloration from the eyes to the bill…later in the season this green will turn white once again.
We humans don’t appreciate the flooding but all the shore birds and waders certainly do and take advantage of their new found ponds.
