Looking Ahead

Looking ahead…before I know it the Great Horned Owls will be nesting. This can take place anywhere from mid February onwards.
The Horned Owls are the earliest of nesters that we have…so come Feb I’ll be checking on abandoned nests that had been built by hawks and crows since owls don’t build their own nests.

Ready for Action

So far this year has been decent with a well rounded mix of both males and females. For what ever reason there as been day’s when they won’t cooperate and are off and flying as soon as you stop.
Then you stumble across one that could care less so you just sit and wait for him to make a move.

Tap Tap Tap

Not really a Tap,Tap,Tap…the loud hammering of a Pileated Woodpecker sounds more like your in a construction zone.
These birds are crow like in size and able to do major excavations on a tree in a short period of time.
