Move Out of the Way

The Red River now down to normal levels and the White Pelicans are gathering in great numbers.
Lockport is a great place if you are so inclined to see Pelicans up-close and personal.

Pack a lunch to have in the park…other options would be the Half Moon Drive In and Skinner’s for a hotdog or burger.

Pelicans are now able to spend their time fishing at the base of the dam…there’s always plenty of action coming and going.

Sometimes things get a little congested…with little to no room to land.

Move Out of the Way…was likely what this Pelican thought when coming in for a landing.

Chatter at the Summer Place

When we opened up the summer place it was encouraging to hear the chatter of House Wrens close by.
Last year the Wren House sat vacant…which was disappointing even though they had placed a good number of twigs inside the birdhouse.
Mrs. Wren found the accommodations not to her liking I guess.

When we closed up I did the fall house cleaning and removed all the twigs…with high hopes for 2023.

Appears they are interested…hopefully they will have a few mouths to feed in the near future.

Perched on a Limb

My routine at the summer place in Gimli begins with an early morning pot of coffee…while most folks are still sound asleep.
With a full travel mug in hand I head out to check the usual haunts…never knowing what I may come across.

Pleasant surprise to come upon a Bald Eagle perched in a tree along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. He/she was perhaps there in search of a meal.
Bald Eagles primary food source consists mainly of fish and mammals…both alive and as carrion.

One just never knows what will be found when it comes to Mother Nature and what she has to offer.

Cheers !
