High hopes of searching for more Snowy Owls has been put on hold. All due to the combination of poor weather and road conditions…as I’ve said before many of the roads I travel are simply dirt roads and have now become a greasy mess in the mild temperatures.
So I reflect back on some time spent with a Great Blue Heron as he/she performed some Morning Ballet near our summer place.
I’ve been seeing reports that the odd Snowy has been seen around the Winterpeg area over the last couple week which was much earlier than last year.
Always exciting to hit the back roads in search of finding that FIRST winter visitor from the Tundra.
Hopefully it’s a decent year for them again…along with our other winter owls.
Recently made a trip to BC where I was able to meet the cousin of our Blue Jay that comes to visit our feeder at home.
Steller Jays being dark blue and black and only found in the extreme Western part of Alberta and BC of course.
Being the same size as our Blue Jays and I found them perhaps a little more human tolerant…they sure loved the peanuts.
