While out checking a Peregrine site and witnessed one of the adults make a couple of unusual passes through a small stand of trees…something I’ve never seen before and found it out of character and wondered why ??
Just after the final pass it became apparent when I heard the Hoo-h-Hoo of a Great Horned Owl.
My focus quickly changed and soon located the nest with one lone owlet.
Great Horns are properly the only predator of the Peregrine Falcon and perhaps the passes by the nest was a warning to the owl.
Just another case of…always Expect the Unexpected when Mother Nature is involved.
