Twice in One Year

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought to be lucky enough to once again come across a Bald Eagle on the ground. If you recall the first trip provided and adult…this time a juvenile.

Rest assured this Eagle appeared to be just fine and it’s still unclear to me just why It came in and landed where it did.
Never the less I took full advantage of what had occurred.

This up-close encounter last mere seconds and all that could be heard was the rapid bursts of the camera shutter…before it departed.

A case of the right place at the right time.

You’ll Never Know What’s Instore

Over the years of Out-n-About Adventures…I never know what’s instore when I depart from home.
Couple things I have learned would be….

Never take anything for granted when it comes to Wildlife as each trip will be different.
Always be prepared for the unexpected…you never know what’s around the next corner.

So was the case on a recent trip up along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. When coming across a Bald Eagle on the ground…not something I was expecting.
He/she provided me with a up-close encounter that won’t be soon forgotten.

October Eagles

Middle of Sept I indicated that I was looking forward to a mid-October Eagle Run up on Lake Winnipeg.
The timing was perfect for a photographer friend visiting from Montreal and she was excited to join me to make the Eagle Run.

Eagles being scavengers they tend collect near and around the fish dumps at this time of year where the commercial fishermen discard remains.
Apparently the commercial fishing has now been extended an extra week due to low volumes of fish being taken.
This was evident upon our arrival…still I was confident that things would change from what we witnessed and only needed a couple hours.

Bottom line is…sometimes you go with your gut feeling and reap the rewards. After a very long road trip out-n-about we probably seen 100-125 Eagles…with some up-close encounters.
