Very much enjoy watching these large shore birds…3-4 ft tall with a wingspan of 60-70 in. Herons are very cautious birds, and will often take flight once they have spotted something that they feel is a threat.
Therefore one needs to use the vehicle as a blind to watch these birds.
They spend most of their time slowly wading along the shoreline in search of food…stopping and standing motionless for minutes at a time. Then perhaps a strike for food or once again moving on.
Still have not been able to find a nest site…perhaps one day ?

Gone Fishing
Great Blue Heron snatches a tasty little morsel…I’m sure he/she would need many more to say “I’m Full”
Change of Pace
Well with the “To Do List” completed at the summer place in Gimli…it only made perfect sense for some “Me Time”.
Off to check the shallow waters and canals on Willow Island…the timing was perfect as I watched this Great Blue Heron hunt for a meal.
