
Pileated Woodpeckers have a very loud distinctive call…wuck wuck wuck. Since my camera never seems to be far away even when working at the lake…it’s drop everything and find the bird when you hear the call.


Pileated Woodpeckers have a very loud distinctive call…wuck wuck wuck. Since my camera never seems to be far away even when working at the lake…it’s drop everything and find the bird when you hear the call.

Never had much luck with the Great Egret until the last couple days. These large birds are similar in appearance to the Great Blue Heron only pure white and a bit smaller in size.
Like the Heron they wade in the ponds in search of food

Looking forward to mid Oct as the Eagles begin to collect prier to the start of migration. Last year I lost count after 75 and would estimate that well over 100 Eagles would have been seen on that day.
Now is the 4 hr.drive worth while…absolutely.
