Up Along the River

Didn’t take much to convince a friend visiting from Montreal that we should head out to Lockport for some late season Pelicans. Definitely not as many as during the summer but still good numbers for some fun shooting.
She went on to explain that White Pelicans are not seen in Montreal…now that explains her excitement to see and photograph the Pelicans.
Without really thinking I had only assumed we had Pelicans across the country.

Little Owl on the Prairie

The Burrowing Owl is one of the smaller owls and about the size of a Robin. The only owl that nests under ground perhaps hence their name ? They will use prairie dog burrows or man made tunnels/nest sites as is the case in this protected area.
Their distinguishing traits are long legs and big yellow eyes…most often seen next to the borrow or perched on low posts.

Definitely a fun little critter to photograph.

Cleared For Take-Off

On the way home last week we stopped by the Osprey nest for a quick check…our timing was perfect. Now you have to understand that my wife is not a birder nor a photographer but will always say ” take as long as you want”
Well, no sooner had we stopped and with the camera out there was action…this included take offs and landings.
So the quick stop was just that and we continued on home.
And yes I was happy with the results.
