Mother Nature can be cruel at times…a storm that hit the Gimli area June 7 did a great deal of damage in the nature world.
The extreme high winds took its toll leaving behind two downed trees that was home to active nests. With one Osprey and a Eagles nest both lost along with the young ones…sad to see.
It’s an Old Tree, with a hole that has become the residence for a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers.
After all these years finally found one. The bonus would be that it’s not obscured by any branches and will/should provide some good opportunities.
Now I’ll just have to make time for visiting this location.
Osprey will sit for the longest time and you just never know when they will decide it’s time to leave…perhaps he was off for a meal ?
