Couldn’t have asked for a better set-up. Great Gray spotted perched on a pole line next to the railway tracks that appeared to be actively hunting and only three poles away…watching as it moved one pole closer and then another.
The perfect set-up was to be the access road that crossed the tracks.
I simply lined up on the pole line sitting in the truck and waited for it to come to me…some times patience pays off and things just fall into place.

Monkey is Off My Back
With an early departure yesterday morning I told myself that I wasn’t going to return home until I found a Great Gray Owl.
It’s now 3/4 the way through the winter season and I was determined to get the last Winter Owl on my list.
Determination paid off and I even made it home in time to make dinner…glad the monkey is off my back.
Snowy Owl Encounter
Another day another Snowy…location and appearance told me I had seen this owl before and had missed an opportunity.
Every owl acts differently…if this was the owl I had seen before it wasn’t going to fool me this time.
If correct the actions of this male was to take off out into the field then shortly after takeoff will bank back around and fly back towards the pole line.
This time I simply waited and by his reactions my thoughts proved to be correct.
