Snowy Headed My Way

Hopefully there will be some new subjects to capture before long…but in the meantime I’m still sifting through the hard-drive and remembering days spent with Snowy Owls.
There is always a number of things that come into play when searching for the Great White Owls from the North. Knowing the area and planning the direction of travel so you have the sun at your back and not backlit/facing the sun. Wind speed and direction is something you have no control over…light to moderate winds are best. Wind directions can also determine which direction they will be facing…they tend to perch facing into the wind.

When everything falls into place and the Stars Align you can only hope there is no operator error and there will be rewards to download at the end of the day.

Cheers !
Dennis

It’s Show Time

I had a front row seat and reminded me of being at a Circus…this Snowy appears to be getting ready to do its high wire tight rope act.
No safety net…only a ditch full of snow if he fell.

Snowy Action

You may recall the encounter with the Snowy who was perched on a snag on the back side of the grain bins…waiting for the owl to provide any sort of movement while watching through the viewer. The arms tire from holding the camera up and the fingers become numb from the cold.

Finally a little body shifting which indicated he may provide some action…good thing the clicker finger still had feeling and able to work the shutter button.
