64 and Counting

With the morning temps sitting at a chilly – 32c its real easy to think of spring and the return of our summer birds.

First birds that come to mind of coarse would be Peregrines which could very well return within 64 days…but who’s counting ?

Then the fun begins attempting to ID who has returned and determine who has hooked up with who ? It has always been exciting when a new bird shows up whether it’s one from a previous years Manitoba hatch or an American cousin.

But back to reality…it’s a get the mitts out kind of day and deal with our chilly weather.

Someone was not happy with our presence on Banding Day…can’t blame her.

Well we now have the potential of adding 3 females and 1 male from the two locations banded into the Peregrine pool.
The chicks have yet to fledge which is always the concern when they do so…hopefully they will all fledge without incident.
