Their Baaack !

It comes as no surprise that the Osprey have returned a bit later than normal this year given our conditions.
One of the Urban Birds a short distance from home that I believe to be a female was seen yesterday.

Wasting no time she’s already started nest repairs on her own…hopefully Hubby will show up soon.

Looking Forward to Their Return.

Perhaps it’s me but winter seems to be dragging on…I’m so looking forward to returning Osprey.
Though it will be some time yet…since they eat fish and would require the ponds and rivers to have open water and free of ice.
So for now I will count the days and the snow to be gone…waiting for the rivers to flow.

In-coming Osprey

At first glance this Osprey may look as if she’s in a defensive mode…rest assured she’s not.
My presence had nothing to do with her pose and was simply returning to the nest where two of the chicks sat chirping.

Note those talons…something you would want to be mindful of if handling. Talons being the business end things and could cause some serious damage if not careful.
