Reading the Body Language…Part 2

In the last communication you’ll remember the owl had moved and focused on something as I waited for things to unfold.

All of a sudden it was a hold the shutter button down moment as the owl took to flight.

After a series of shots the owl was too close to focus on as it passed within three feet of where I stood.

This encounter turned out to be a real Nature Rush…something that doesn’t always take place.

Every once in awhile you come across an active owl where you try and anticipate their next move. Beginning with knowing the difference between hunt mode and escape mode and it was obvious this owl was actively on the hunt. Witnessing its sudden head jerks and prolonged stares as it attempted to locate a meal beneath the snow.

Picking up on how the owl repositions itself and the direction it seems to be focused on is key.

Then attempting if possible to find a good position and wait for things to unfold…the owl now having sifted and focused just prior to launching.

The right place at the right time…just sayin !

Another day and another Gray.

The forecast called for a mix of sun and cloud and thought perhaps the forecasters may be correct this time…wrong !

Since being out one can only make the best of it even if under less than ideal conditions.

The only reward was finding a very active owl that provided some opportunities for decent action shots.
