One Day Wonder

Different angle of my One Day Wonder.
I had spent a couple days of searching….attempting to locate the Screech Owl and to no avail. Walking the streets and checking every possible tree cavity that could be a suitable roosting spot.
Folks that would have seen me must have been wondering what on earth I was doing.
No one asked and the Police didn’t show up….so all was good.

Surprise, Surprise…Another Owl !

While on route running an errand and glancing at the boulevard trees as driving something caught my eye which seemed a bit off. Being on a residential street I was able to hit the brakes and the 4-way flashers at the same time…grabbed the binoculars that live under the seat and had a look-see.

Surprise, Surprise another Owl…much smaller than a Great Gray for sure. These owls are definitely The Masters when it comes to Camouflage.
The Eastern Screech-Owl had found a comfortable place to roost for the day in this large cavity…appears it may have been a One Day Wonder and haven’t seen it for a couple days.

Maybe time to go and do some cavity searching since it’s likely still in the area…just sayin !

Wake-up, Wake-up friend Owl

It took mere seconds after I had muttered Wake-up, Wake-up friend Owl for him/her to open its eyes.
Could it be this little owl understood what I was asking it to do…don’t think so but I was glad to see this happen.

There’s nothing more boring than watching a sleeping owl…or like I’ve said before it’s like watching paint dry.
