Cooper’s Hawk…perhaps the most quiet of all raptors. They can be found nesting in parks and on residential streets through out Winnipeg. They prey on small song birds and mammals and often seen perched around yards with bird feeders where they sit and wait for prey.
On a side note…the young love to use puddles and birdbaths to bath in.

Cooper’s at the Gardens
Each year the English Garden in Wpg. attract a wide array of birds, the bonus this year was one of the juvenile Cooper’s Hawk that seemed unconcerned with the presence of humans.
Splish Splash Cooper’s Bath Time
Every mid Aug I make time to visit the English Gardens here in Winnipeg to photograph hummingbirds before they start to migrate. I never expected to be rewarded with a bonus of watching a Cooper’s Hawk (juvenile) enjoy a morning bath.
