Quest for Eagles

October is Pre Winter Owl Season but first need to make the annual trips in search of Eagles up along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. This time of year Eagles are collecting before they begin to migrate with large groups often seen together.
I opted to check some new territory with high hopes of some rewards.

Eagles being scavengers and often search out an easy meal…like a fish dump site that commercial fishermen use to discard fish remains.
If one can stand the smell these locations may produce the rewards I was after.

So the morning started at 4:30 am and after loading up the gear and packing lunch/snacks I was on the road headed North on my Eagle quest.
The new territory paid off and I soon ran out of fingers and toes and lost count…at the end of the day I figure I had seen over 150 plus Eagles.

The Forecast Was Correct

I’m not a happy camper when they issue a Winter Storm Warning days in advance…I assumed that we would be missed but on the off chance they were correct decided to make a run up along the shore of Lake Winnipeg in search of Eagles this passed Tuesday.

Good thing as the forecast held true and we’ve been hit with a Colorado Low that has made Hwy driving treacherous.

So the search for Eagles proved to be rewarding as they are starting to collect and it’s hard to say if I get back up there ??
