Wake-up, Wake-up Friend Owl

Eastern Screech-Owls being one of our smaller owls ( 8 in ) compared to the Great Gray (27 in ). Being nocturnal they tend to sleep away the day usually perched in a cavity opening. Their calls are described as a soft quavering whistle or whinny.

Other than the fact that they are so small their coloration definitely helps them blend into their surroundings and can be difficult to spot.

This encounter has only been the 4th time I’ve been able photograph one of these small owls…hopefully they will stick around.

Osprey on the Wing

It’s always been the case that I needed to travel to the summer place for Osprey. Now appears when notable for time at the lake I won’t be in Osprey withdrawal…with a couple nest sites close to home.
Still looking forward to checking Osprey at the summer place and the distractions they provided when there is things to be done…does this mean I’ll get more work done, probably not.

Peregrine on the Wing

This year in Peregrine World has had its concerns do to a few factors. Losing the residential female at one location last season, two resident birds that hadn’t returned along with the loss Porter (2017 Radisson Hatch) who was found dead last week in downtown Wpg.Change in mates with the West Wpg female moving to the Radisson and hooking up with the residential male from last year…who are incubating 4 eggs.
Yes…we are working out details for the camera to go Live and everyone will be notified when this happens.
Stay Tuned and Stay Safe during these troubling times.

Cheers !
