Big Surprise Along the Road

Just like a Kid in a Candy Shop…I’m still reliving the time that was spent with the First Gray Owl of the season less than a week ago. Then just before noon things got even better…it was like Christmas all over.
A “1st” for me as I refuse to use the word (Lifer)…there roosting in a grove of Scotch Pines looking at me with coal black eyes was a Barred Owl.

It seemed like I had just won the lottery.

Couldn’t have asked for a better set-up. Great Gray spotted perched on a pole line next to the railway tracks that appeared to be actively hunting and only three poles away…watching as it moved one pole closer and then another.
The perfect set-up was to be the access road that crossed the tracks.
I simply lined up on the pole line sitting in the truck and waited for it to come to me…some times patience pays off and things just fall into place.

Monkey is Off My Back

With an early departure yesterday morning I told myself that I wasn’t going to return home until I found a Great Gray Owl.
It’s now 3/4 the way through the winter season and I was determined to get the last Winter Owl on my list.

Determination paid off and I even made it home in time to make dinner…glad the monkey is off my back.
