That Time of Year

It’s that time of year, the in-between season…the fall migration basically over as I await the start of migration for the winter owls to begin showing up.
Soon it will be time to begin exploring and traveling the back roads…logging many hours and km’s in search of Snowy, Great Gray and Hawk Owls.

Hopefully…Mother Nature will be kind to me this year, with many successful day’s in store.
Time will tell.

Sifting through some forgotten files and I stumble across a misplaced folder. Short-eared Owls at Oak Hammock last year where a delight to watch from the end of Nov well into Dec and attracted many photographers…then move on with a good chance of Snowy Owls.
This particular day in Dec brought heavy fog witch is unusual…never the less I was determined to make the best of it.

Who is Watching Who

Earlier this spring at a Great Horned Owl location the setup was perfect. In an industrial part of the city owlets where perched in the trees next to a parking lot of a business. Appeared that they had become accustom to vehicles in the lot…unaware of the adult until she turned around since I was focused on the owlets.
Then it was a case of who is watching who.
