Doesn’t Matter How Cold…

Manitoba is currently in a deep-freeze !

Doesn’t really matter how cold it is…currently -31c and -40c with the wind-chill, almost cold enough here in Winterpeg to wear gloves. With the need for food a Snowy provides some action as he was just off the pole and headed towards something he spotted…out-n-about in rural Manitoba.

Snowy Action…Stage Right

While out-n-about I stumbled across a very photogenic Snowy that appeared to be actively hunting from a pole line…it reminded me more of the mannerisms of a Great Gray. Even though it only made two attempts it was interesting to see how focused and alert he was and unfazed by my presents…using the truck as a blind I simply sat and waited since his interest seemed to be on something that was behind me.

You get very little indication when they are ready to leave their perch so you have to be ready.

Even a spur of the moment trip requires some thought on what to take.
It’s always just easy to grab the camera bag and go…sometimes I kick myself for not taking “Wowzer”

This lens takes up a good part of the back seat along with the tripod…glad I took it yesterday as I ran into the first Northern Hawk Owl of the season.
It wasn’t as close as I would like but exciting to see…hopefully it will stick around and provided some closer action.
