May recall I had the opportunity to visit the Burrowing Owl Recovery Project site back in Mid August. As this tiny owl stood and peered into the entrance of the tunnel I remember thinking that another owl may be coming out.
Much to my surprise it turned out to be a gopher. Either one seemed very alarmed by the others presents.
Could it be possible they were sharing the burrow ? I have no idea but just goes to show you…always expect the unexpected.
After hearing reports of Snowy Owl returns…I was pawing the ground to hit the back roads.
It’s not a jaw dropping photo but rather just documentation for my data base…but now able to say I seen my “First Snowy”
I’ll start out by saying this Snowy was from last season…so thoughts of winter owls begins since I’ve received a couple reported sightings.
It does seem a bit early which makes me wonder why ?
The temps have now dropped and froze the country dirt roads that I frequent…which means less chance of getting stuck and a long walk to ask Mr. Farmer to come pull me out.
Now just have to wait for some clear sky.
