The good thing about photographing Snowy Owls they are less likely to be obscured by “Junk”…meaning branches, twigs or grass.
If trying to focus on something like a Great Gray in the bush the camera may first attempt to focus on branches or twigs in the foreground…which can be a bit frustrating but easily overcome.
Well…No Junk to deal with in this situation as the Snowy takes flight into the Wild Blue Yonder.

Ghost From the Forest
Sipping coffee and munching on a Granola Bar as the time passes waiting for some action to take place by a Great Gray…timing was perfect as I had just set down my mug and picked up the camera…so kind of her to wait before making her move. A slow flight with a mid-air stall and briefly hovering over the possible meal beneath the snow before making the plunge.
This characteristic fashion and form is always exciting to witness when you encounter a Ghost of the Forest.
Cheers !

Another Day…Another Gray
The Great Gray Season began with some exciting rewards…but of course spotting a Gray is always exciting whether it’s the start or the end of the Season.
Lately with the extreme cold I’ve opted to put Owl searches on hold until the temps are a little more tolerable.
Some new locations to check may be in order as owls seem to have moved on for one reason or another.
This isn’t unusual and all part of Winter Owling.
