Few poles down the road and a Snowy spotted…time to stop and evaluate just how to approach this owl.
Beyond this perched owl could be seen what seemed like a large hay bale tractor and trailer approaching.

There would be a 50-50% chance that it may fly in my direction…so there I sat patiently waiting.
Turned out to be a positive 50% chance…thank you Mr. Farmer.

For the most part in these neck of the woods Snowy Owls tend to use any one of the many Hydro poles as a perch. Pleasant surprise to find one in a tree along the roadway at the edge of a farm yard.
Sitting waiting for an extended amount of time for some flight action…but it wasn’t meant to be.
The owl decided to go off in the other direction rather than towards me…never the less a Tree Topper trumps a Pole Percher.

Thought I would get an early start and perhaps be able to locate an area which would provide a good food source. Since I’m used to perching on rocks and hill tops I was pleasantly surprised.
They have trees but sadly I find it difficult to land in them as many small branches can’t hold my weight.
Tall grasslands provide safe cover but I find it harder to locate a meal.
Then the perfect spot called a post…it’s sturdy and gets me off the ground with a good vantage point from which to hunt.
Now I have to put up with humans that want to photograph me…don’t know why these humans get so excited to see a Snowy on a post.

I must be some sort of celebrity…just thinkin.
