We Have Liftoff

It’s been a number of days since my last visit with the Osprey…if all goes according to plan should be heading to the summer place soon.

Couple of things that require attention but it’s all about priorities…with an Osprey check at the top of the list.

At this time of year the youngsters now older and able to wonder farther away from the nest. Often making it difficult or impossible to locate.

Will be interesting to see if they are still in the habit of returning to the nest site and calling for the adults to bring food.

Still on the Dead End Road

Not only does my truck get me to possible locations for birds…it doubles well as a blind.
Time and time again I’ve found birds will be tolerant of a vehicle but open the door and their gone.
Well it’s a sit and wait scenario which can be minutes or stretch into an hour and not unusual to be even longer.
The Swainson (juvenile) was kind enough to provide some action after about the 45 min mark.
Cheers !

Was Worth the Chance

There’s advantages of traveling down a road where you see a sign that states “Road Closed”…thanks for the head-up, now I knew that at some point I would need to turn around. Unlike many roads I’ve travelled when they suddenly dead-end.

Sometimes you miss something on the way in only to spot it on the way back after having to turn around.

Definitely not a waste of time after spotting Swainson’s Hawk (juveniles) on the way out.
