As hard as I tried they always stayed a few steps ahead of me.<br \/>\nLater in life I found out that the Killdeer is the Master at using the \u201cBroken Wing\u201d act\u2026this is done to lure predators away from the nest or young. <\/p>\n<p>Killdeer can be found along beaches, mudflats and fields\u2026as well as gravel driveways and parking lots.<br \/>\nThey have the habit of running a few steps then stopping as they search of insects and worms.<\/p>\n<p>So remember\u2026if you come across a Killdeer don\u2019t be fooled by its \u201cBroken Wing Charade\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I can recall many years ago when I was a young lad attempting to catch Killdeer\u2026seemed simple enough since it appeared to be hurt.
