Not having to rely on other birds to build their nest.<br \/>\nPreferring grassy areas which makes the nest sites impossible to see\u2026grasslands provide them with plenty of mice and voles their main food source.<\/p>\n<p>Being migratory owls they are most commonly seen from early spring till late fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rather than searching the bush for Horned Owls\u2026opted for open grass lands to search for possible Short-eared Owls.
