{"id":2937,"date":"2023-01-03T10:00:04","date_gmt":"2023-01-03T16:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/photosbydennis.ca\/blog\/?p=2937"},"modified":"2023-01-03T10:00:04","modified_gmt":"2023-01-03T16:00:04","slug":"mother-nature-was-kind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/photosbydennis.ca\/blog\/2023\/01\/03\/mother-nature-was-kind\/","title":{"rendered":"Mother Nature was Kind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" onmousedown=\"alert('Sorry ... you will need to contact me if you wish to use this photo')\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pbase.com\/photosbydennis\/image\/173280812\/large.jpg\" alt=\"photo courtesy of Dennis Swayze\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With busy days and bad weather somewhat now behind us in the rear view mirror\u2026it was time to see what 2023 has in store.<br \/>\nAlthough not the perfect setting for this Northern Hawk Owl I wasn\u2019t about to pass it up.<br \/>\nI\u2019m sure many have never seen one<br \/>\nThe owls are relatively small speed demons compared to Great Grays, Great Horns and Snowy Owls\u2026most probably get the name because of the their long hawk like tail feathers.<br \/>\nThese owls actively hunt for mice\/voles during the day which is their main food source. They like to perch on tree tops from which they hunt and can easily be spotted.<br \/>\nThey also make use of post or signs\u2026as this one did.<br \/>\nLike Great Grays they too are human tolerant and approachable for the most part.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully this sighting will be a sign of good things to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With busy days and bad weather somewhat now behind us in the rear view mirror\u2026it was time to see what 2023 has in store.
