Unlike Merlin\u2019s who use abandoned crows nest the Kestrel is a cavity nester and will use old Woodpecker holes or openings in manmade structures.<br \/>\nKestrels are often seen along country roads\u2026taking advantage of telephone\/hydro lines to perch on and hunt from.<br \/>\nThey tend to hover when hunting and take their prey on the ground\u2026which consists of insects, mice and small birds.<\/p>\n<p>So if you\u2019re out for a drive in the country keep an eye for one of these small Falcons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another member of the Falcon Family\u2026American Kestrel\u2019s perhaps not as common as the larger Merlin\u2019s.
