{"id":2681,"date":"2021-11-28T11:06:08","date_gmt":"2021-11-28T17:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/photosbydennis.ca\/blog\/?p=2681"},"modified":"2021-11-28T11:06:08","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T17:06:08","slug":"treat-on-a-stick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/photosbydennis.ca\/blog\/2021\/11\/28\/treat-on-a-stick\/","title":{"rendered":"Treat on a Stick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" onmousedown=\"alert('Sorry ... you will need to contact me if you wish to use this photo')\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pbase.com\/photosbydennis\/image\/172158351\/large.jpg\" alt=\"photo courtesy of Dennis Swayze\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dedicated day in search of any Winter Owls that are seen in more forested areas to the North.<br \/>\nThough still perhaps a bit early for Great Grays the forecast was positive and spending time in the woods would be relaxing.<br \/>\nI searched in vain with no rewards to be had.<br \/>\nEarly afternoon and paused to plan a different route home with a couple of options\u2026there it was again, that gut feeling. <\/p>\n<p>As I drove the road I was beginning to think I should have picked Route B on the list. <\/p>\n<p>Long story short\u2026Northern Hawk Owl spotted. Now the waiting game begins as it seemed to be actively looking\/listening for its next meal.<br \/>\nTheir meals consist of voles\/mice which are now hiding beneath the snow. With their incredible hearing and sight are able to detect the slightest<br \/>\nmovement.<\/p>\n<p>As time went on the owl was moving from perch to perch but never did make a meal plunge.<\/p>\n<p>All in all and nice way to be rewarded and end my day out-n-about.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dedicated day in search of any Winter Owls that are seen in more forested areas to the North.
